James Joyce. A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man (Page 5)

This route begins in Blackrock Park and heads north along the seafront into the city. It then returns to the coast and crosses the wooden bridge in Clontarf and ends where Stephen Dedalus sees the girl stood before him in midstream near the Bull Wall.

The route loosely follows the book in that it starts in Blackrock where young Stephen goes running before he moves into the city Centre. The run passes the Merrion Gates and goes into the city via the Merrion Road. From the train, Stephen looks towards the Merrion Road where he sees his belongings being carried into the city on two yellow caravans.
